Annu Palakunnathu MATTHEW
Annu Palakunnathu Matthew (1964– ) was born in England, raised in India, and is now based in the United States of America. She obtained a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the University of Madras in 1986 before completing a Master of Fine Arts at the University of Delaware in 1997. Matthew is a multidisciplinary artist who primarily works with photography. Her work re-examines the legacy of colonisation and the incompleteness of historical narratives, often drawing on archival images. Matthew has exhibited widely around the world, including at the Victorian & Albert Museum in London, and the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History in Washington DC. Her work has been supported by many grants and fellowships, and she is currently is a Professor of Art at the University of Rhode Island.
